Getting to Pine Cottage Bed & Breakfast on Mackinac Island is a breeze. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you plan your journey!

Ferry Departure Times:

Before you embark on your trip, we recommend checking the ferry departure times online. Plan to arrive at the ferry dock at least 30 minutes before your desired scheduled ferry departure. Be aware that ferry departure times vary throughout the season, with more frequent departures during the peak summer months of July and August. You have two options for departure: from the Mackinaw City dock in the Lower Peninsula or St. Ignace in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Luggage Transfer:

For a hassle-free experience, you can have your luggage tagged and loaded onto the ferry. The ferry service offers baggage handling to and from the mainland. Please ensure that all checked items are properly zipped or sealed. While the transportation services take good care of your luggage, Pine Cottage Bed & Breakfast cannot assume responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged luggage or its contents. We advise you to hand-carry electronics, chargers, medications, medical equipment, car keys, and anything fragile, valuable, or irreplaceable. Before leaving your luggage, make sure you receive luggage tag stubs for each piece you are sending on the ferry.

Upon Arrival at Mackinac Island:

Once you arrive at the ferry dock on Mackinac Island, porter service is available to and from the dock. Please note that luggage transfer times may vary, so if you need immediate access to certain items, it’s best to carry them with you, especially if they are fragile or valuable. While it is not expected or required, it is customary to tip cottage porters $1-5 per bag for prompt and proper luggage delivery.
